The Stencil of the Beautiful Statue of Liberty

The Stencil of the Beautiful Statue of Liberty

Composition    Collage                Photoshop        Threshold              Contrast

1. Explain how you changed your photo in the lab to create a stencil.
The contrast between the photo in the lab and the stencil is the size of Ms. Liberty. When I photoshopped the photo to the left, the Statue was too small. So I cut out most of the things to leace only the Statue of Liburty.

2. When creating the collage background explain your choices of colors, materials (magazine paper, books pages, etc), and placement. How does it relate to your topic? If no relation discuss general idea.
When I first started the collage, I thought we had to do a college of what we were doing, so it took me a while to find just things to do with the USA. Then I realized you did not have to, so then I used random stuff from magazine paper and newspapers.
3. Discuss the way positive and negative space was used to create your stencil.
In order for me to cut the pasitive/negative space, I had to cut with an xacto knife and a threshold so I won't cut the table.
4. When using the xacto knife, explain the safety procedures, how to use the knife and any challenges you had to overcome while cutting.
A good starter is to not cut yourself. Also put a threshold under the paper. Another good thing may be to cut in on the lines that you already drawn.
5. How was your experience with the spray paint? Discuss how color choice is important, placement of stencil, and any other concepts you noticed while creating this.
I really enjoyed using the spray paint. It took me a while to get what I wanted, until I thought of the American flag. It was the final composition to make the stencil perfect. There was no red, so I had to use pink. I don't think you would have noticed  unless I told you. The black for the Statue really brought the collage to life.
